Earth Revolution: Definition and Impact

Let's discuss the meaning first carefully.

Definition of Earth Revolution

The definition of the earth's revolution is a movement of the earth around the sun. Where the time needed by the earth around the sun is 365¼ days in one orbit. From that 365¼ time or 1 solar year is called the time of the earth's revolution.

The position of the earth's axis is also not perpendicular to the plane of the eclipta but tilted in the same direction and forms an angle of 23.50 to the sun. From this angle, it is measured from an imaginary line that connects the north pole to the south pole, which is called the axis of rotation.

The existence of this revolution of the earth occurs due to the force of attraction between the sun and the earth. This movement also occurs on planets other than Earth that are part of the solar system. The Earth evolves from west to east from an angle of 66.5 degrees with respect to the plane of the ecliptic in a fixed tilt direction. Some of the events that occur as a result of the earth's revolution include the following:

Events due to Earth's Revolution

The following are events that occur due to the earth's revolution.

1. There is a difference between day and night

With a shift in the sun's orbit, it will cause changes and also the difference in length between day and night. Later, at certain times and in certain places, the night will be longer than the day.

On the other hand, during other times the day is longer than the night. At the North Pole the night can last for 24 hours, while at the same time at the South Pole the day lasts for 24 hours.

2. There is a change of seasons

The shift in the sun's orbit also causes a change in the seasons. For example, in the tropics, there are 2 seasons, namely the dry dry season and the wet rainy season. As for the subtropics (located between 23.5° N/LS-40° N/S) it can be divided into 4 seasons, namely spring, rainy season and summer, and autumn. The following details the changing seasons in a year which are divided into four seasons, including:

  • Spring

Spring is one of the four seasons in non-tropical areas that experience a transition from winter to summer. In the Northern Hemisphere, spring is expected to occur from March 21 to June 21. While in the southern hemisphere it is estimated to occur on September 23-Dec 21.

  • Summer

Summer in many countries is characterized by having moderate weather. In the Northern Hemisphere, summer occurs from June 21 to September 23, while in the Southern Hemisphere, it is estimated to occur from December 21 to March 21.

  • Fall

Autumn is more common in areas that have a temperate climate which is a transitional period from summer to winter. For example, in the Northern Hemisphere it occurs from September 23 to December 21, while in the Southern Hemisphere it occurs from March 21 to June 21.

  • Rainy season

The existence of a rainy season in several areas is usually marked by increased rainfall in an area, and this rainy season is only known in areas that have a tropical climate.

  • Winter

Winter tends to have low temperatures. Winter in the Northern Hemisphere occurs from 21 December to 21 March, while in the Southern Hemisphere it occurs from 21 June to 23 September.

  • Dry season

The dry season tends to occur in the tropics and is also influenced by the monsoon system. The dry season is commonly known as the dry season.

3. The annual apparent motion of the sun

Here the position of the sun is not in the equator. However, sometimes it is also located in the north of the equator and south of the equator. The sun is in the equator on March 21, then the sun seems to move north and after reaching 23.5⁰ North Latitude or the Tropic of Cancer on June 21, the sun seems to move back to equator.

On September 23, it is as if the sun is on the equator and the sun is moving south and after reaches 23.5⁰South latitude or equinox on December 22, the sun will again move towards the equator.

4. Look at the different constellations

In the universe you will find how the phenomenon of the formation of constellations. The result of this earth's revolution is the formation of a group of stars that form certain patterns in the sky.

Earth that is undergoing revolution causes us as observers on earth to see stars from different directions. When the sun is next to the sun, observers on earth can only see the constellations that are to the east of the sun. For example, in February you will see the constellation Aquarius, while the constellation Leo will be visible in August.

Thus our discussion this time about Earth Revolution: Definition and Impact, we hope the article above can be useful for all of us. Thank you 🙂
