Review Text Definition of Purpose Structure and Examples

Example of Review Text

Below is an example of a review text or review of a film, namely "Behind '98".

Orientation example

The film entitled Di Balik ’98 is a film produced by MNC Pictures, which tells the story of a riot in 1998. Of course, all Indonesian people know about the problems that occurred in May 1998. Those were times of crisis in both the Suharto presidency and the New Order. But in this film, it tells that behind the heated political conditions, there are still a lot of meanings that can be learned that have human value in it.

Interpretation Example

It is said that the character Diana, starring (Chelsea Islan), a Trisakti student, has decided to become a member of the demonstrators. During President Soeharto's reign, according to him, it must be ended immediately. So he decided that becoming a member of the demonstrators was not the right choice for him. Because he currently lives with his older sister named Salma (Ririn Ekawati), who is an employee at the State Palace. With Bagus, namely Salma's husband, starring (Donny Alamsyah), namely a Second Lieutenant, from the Army.

Since the crisis began, Diana joined the movement of all Indonesian students who had pushed for the abdication of President Suharto. This is a form of anxiety for the Indonesian people, and the climax also occurs on the 13th to May 14, in which 4 students were shot dead by the security forces for trying to quell the riots 98.

So, in the midst of this situation, President Soeharto actually decided to go to attend the G-15 Summit which was in Cairo. Meanwhile, the vice president at that time (B.J. Habibie) was also shocked by the shooting incident in Trisakti which had turned into a big riot.

So the anger was not only felt by the students or Diana. But also felt by Bagus, namely Diana's brother-in-law. What's more, his wife is heavily pregnant, but Bagus is still obliged to carry out the mandate of his superiors to maintain security at various points in the Jakarta area. He was very worried, his heart was confused, his heart was mixed, when he found out that his wife was not at the State Palace, it was caused his wife went to look for her sister who for several days there was no information about her whereabouts and never came home.

Everything got more complicated when Daniel (Boy William), who was Diana's boyfriend, a Chinese descendant, had to feel the pain at that time. Because Diana's father and younger brother disappeared during the May 14 riots. Moreover, Daniel was also almost trapped in sweeping society in screening non-indigenous people, at that time it was the peak of the racial issue in Indonesia.

On the other hand, needy people and beggars must also feel the political impact that has occurred, and the bad impact on them.

Evaluation Example

The film released in early 2015 above is not a political film. But only a family drama film, which is covered in the background of the riots in May 1998. Because this is a film work, it has a different paradigm than the May '98 riots. Only inserting a few fictional stories, namely in the form of stories between Diana, Daniel, and others, makes the film more interesting.

Example Summary

It is highly recommended to watch this film if you don't know how the 98 tragedy is because this film will describe the event. This film also tells about the problem until it can be finished and the private conversation between the president and the vice president until Suharto finally abdicates.

Thus the explanation about Review Text: Definition, Purpose, Structure and Examples. Hopefully it can be useful and increase your knowledge. Thank You.
