Types of Classroom Action Research
There are four types of Classroom Action Research (PTK) that will be discussed, namely: diagnostic PTK; PTK participants; Empirical PTK; and experimental PTK. For more details, the following is a brief explanation of the four types of PTK.
1. Diagnostic Classroom Action Research
What is meant by diagnostic PTK is research that is designed by guiding researchers towards an action. In this case the researcher diagnoses and enters the situation contained in the research setting.
For example: if the researcher seeks to deal with disputes, quarrels, problems or conflicts between students in the school or class. Researchers analyze and observe carefully through interactions with students in a school or class by looking for sources of existing problems and so on. Then analyze all the data and provide recommendations regarding the resolution of the conflict.
2. Participant Classroom Action Research
A class action research that participants say is if the person who will do or carry out the assessment must be directly involved in the research process from the beginning to the results of the research report.
Thus, since research planning, researchers have been involved and further researchers monitor, record and collect data and then analyze the data and end by reporting the results of his research. In this type of CAR, researchers are required to be involved directly and continuously from the beginning to the end of the research.
3. Empirical Classroom Action Research
What is meant by empirical PTK is when the researcher tries to carry out an action or action and discloses what was done and what happened during the action. In principle, the research process is concerned with keeping records and collecting the experiences of researchers in their daily work.
4. Experimental Classroom Action Research
This type of CAR has the greatest potential value in the advancement of scientific knowledge. What is categorized as experimental PTK is if PTK is carried out with effort apply various techniques or strategies effectively and efficiently in a learning activity teach.
In relation to teaching and learning activities it is possible that there is more than one strategy or technique set to achieve an instructional goal. With the implementation of CAR, it is hoped that researchers can determine which way is most effective in achieving teaching goals.
