Definition of Occupational Health and Safety (K3)

The definition of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) according to the Minister of Manpower is a protection effort aimed at ensuring that workers and people are safe others in the workplace/company are always safe and healthy, and so that every source of production can be used safely and efficient.

OHSAS (180001:2007)

Meanwhile according to Suma'mur (1992) the goals of occupational health and safety (K3) are:

  • As a protector of workers' rights and safety and carry out work for welfare and improve performance.

According to Mangkunegara (2004), the objectives of occupational health and safety (K3) are:

Working capacity depends a lot on education, skills, physical fitness, body size, nutritional status and so on.

Work environment
The work environment is in the form of physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic or psychosocial.

Sutrisno and Rusmandi (2007) state, the principles that companies must implement in implementing occupational health and safety include:

  • There is PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in the workplace
  • There is a manual for the use of tools and/or hazard signals
  • There are rules for the distribution of duties and responsibilities
  • There is a safe workplace with SSLK standards (Work Environment Requirements), including a sterile workplace from dust, dirt, cigarette smoke, gas vapor, radiation, machine vibrations and equipment, noise, work place safe from electric current, lighting is adequate, ventilation and air circulation are balanced, there are work rules and regulations behave.
