Professionals are people who live by practicing a certain ability or expertise that plays a role in an activity according to their skills. So it can be concluded that professionals are people who carry out work according to their skills.

Professional Requirements
The First Indonesian Education National Convention in 1988 (Made Pidarta, 2000: 266) has determined the requirements for a professional job, which include the following:
- On the basis of a life calling that is carried out full time and for a long period of time.
- Have specific knowledge and skills.
- It is carried out according to the theories, principles, procedures and basic assumptions that have been standardized as guidelines in serving clients.
- As a service to society, not seeking financial gain.
- Have diagnostic skills and applicable competencies in serving clients.
- Done autonomously which can be tested by colleagues in the profession.
- Have a code of ethics that is upheld by society, and work done to serve those in need.

Community affiliation
Use the work network as a reference, including formal institutions or groups of informal partners as the main source of work ideas. Through this work relationship, professionals build professional awareness.
The need for independence (autonomy demand)
It is an opinion that a professional person must be able to make his own decisions without pressure from other parties, including the government, clients, those who are not members of the profession. Any intervention that comes from outside is seen as an obstacle to professional independence.
