The Benefits of Performing Midnight Prayers

Doing the midnight prayer apart from getting the reward, we also get benefits and miracles in doing the midnight prayer which will be explained as follows:

1. Mind Becomes Much Fresher

After waking up we certainly get clearer thinking. This is because in one day we do a lot of activities such as a heavy heart pumps blood throughout the body and lungs which continue to process clean air and expel air dirty. Therefore every day the human body needs sleep as a good resting time for the body. By sleeping all the organs will rest and lighten the work of the existing organs. By sleeping, the cells in the body regenerate and make our minds fresh again. From the explanation above, when we wake up to do the midnight prayer with a fresh body, then in doing our prayers we can be more solemn and can be calmer after reading the verses Al-Qur'an.

2. In the Granting of the Requested Prayers

The granting of the requested prayers is the benefit of us performing the midnight prayer. The midnight prayer is performed at one third of the night before dawn. This time is the time when Allah SWT grants all of our requests. This is reinforced by the following hadith:

"The commandment of Allah descends into the sky in the last third of the night, then calls out, are there those who beg (pray) will surely be I grant it, is there anyone who asks, I will surely give it and is there anyone who hopes for forgiveness, I will definitely forgive him until dawn." (Al-Hadith).

3. Allah Will Raise Our Degrees To A Praised Place

The benefit of doing the next midnight prayer is that Allah SWT will elevate us to a commendable place. This is reinforced by Surah Al-Isra 'verse 79:

“And part of the night you pray tahajud as an additional worship for you; May your Lord raise you to a commendable place." (QS A1-Isra [17]: 79).

And there is another hadith that strengthens the verse above:

“There are 3 kinds of people, Allah SWT loves them, smiles at them, and feels good with them them, i.e. one of them is the one who has a beautiful wife and a soft bed and Good. Then he gets up at night (to pray), then Allah SWT says: 'He leaves his pleasures and remembers Me. If he wishes, then he will sleep." (History of Ath-Thabrani).

4. Get closer to Allah SWT

Tahajud prayer as one of the media that is used in getting closer to Allah SWT. This explanation is mentioned in the hadith:

“Let you perform the night prayer because it is the custom of the pious people to pray at night before you, worship that draws closer to your Lord, as well as covering mistakes and expiating sins.” (HR. Tirmidhi, Al-Hakim, Baihaqi. Hasankan by Shaykh Al-Albani in Irwaa Al Ghalil).

And there is another hadith which explains the following:

“O Muhammad, the glory of the believer is in the night prayer. And the valor of a believer is an independent attitude from the help of others.” (Silsilah Al-Hadis Ash-Shahihah).

5. Obtain Various Conveniences

Obtaining this facility is explained in the hadith of Rasulullah SAW:

"Whoever performs the midnight prayer as well as possible, and with neat order, Allah SWT will give 9 kinds of glory: 5 kinds in this world and 4 kinds in the hereafter."

6. Increase Immunity And Eliminate Diseases

The next benefit is that it can increase immunity and eliminate disease. The system that is in the body will affect when we worship like one of which is to increase the body's immunity and eliminate the disease suffered. This research has been done and is still being done.

7. Abstaining From Negligence

The next benefit is being able to distance yourself from negligence. A more complete explanation can be found in the hadith:

“Whoever prays at night by reading a hundred verses, he will not be recorded as negligent. And if he reads two hundred verses, then indeed he will be recorded as a person who is always obedient and sincere." (Al-Hakim in the book Al-Mustadrak).

8. Winning in Jihad Against the Enemy

The benefit of the next midnight prayer is winning in jihad when fighting the enemy. Lust is the greatest enemy in man. For some people it's really hard because it's the night before dawn where we are fast asleep. Therefore, what if people wake up and perform the midnight prayer, they have succeeded in fighting their desires and temptations to worship Allah SWT.

9. Lighten the Length of Standing on the Day of Judgment

Relieving the length of standing on the Day of Judgment is the next benefit of the midnight prayer. This was disclosed by Ibn Abbas ra:

“Whoever is happy when Allah will lighten his standing on the Day of Resurrection, let him show it himself to Allah at night by prostrating and standing in remembrance of the Last Day." (Ibn Jarir Ath-Tabari, commentary on Ibn finger).

10. Preventing Sins And Removing Evil

The next benefit is that it can prevent us from committing sins and can erase evil. This is emphasized in the words of Rasulullah SAW:

"Would you do qiyaamullail, in fact it is a habit of pious people before you, approaching yourself to Allah Ta'ala, preventing sin, removing evil and warding off disease from the body." (Narrated At-Turmudzi, Al-Hakim).

11. Face Looks Shiny And Glowing

This benefit is strengthened by a question from someone to Hasan Al-Basri ra, someone asked, "Why do people who stay at night have a good face?". Hasan Basri replied:

"Because they are alone with their Lord at night, then Allah gives them some of His light." (Al-Maqrizi, Mukhtasar Qiyaamallail).

12. Enlarge the Lung Cavity

The next benefit of the midnight prayer is that it can enlarge the lung cavities. The benefits of prayer movements can have a positive impact on our bodies. Movements in prayer can open the lung organs which are useful for expediting air flow to the lungs. Often every time we finish praying, we feel our lungs become more spacious than before.

13. Can Improve Blood Flow

16. Savior From Hell

Saving oneself from the torment of hell fire is another benefit of the midnight prayer. When someone had a dream then he told his dream to Rasulullah SAW. He recounted his dream:

It has two bars like the bars of a well. Inside was a human I already knew. So I started saying, 'I seek refuge in the name of Allah from hell'. Then an angel met the two of them, so he said to me,'Don't be afraid!' (This dream) I told Hafshah, so Hafshah told the Messenger of Allah and he said, "The best man is Abdullah, if he does pray at night." Salim said, "After that Abdullah did not sleep at night except for a little while." (HR Bukhari and Muslim).

We believe that all living things will surely die and be separated from the life that exists in this world to the eternal world, namely the world hereafter.
